Kiko Loureiro : Guitar Hero challenge

Review and pics taken from Universo Do Rock website :

"On last July 25 (Sunday), Kiko Loureiro, Angra's guitarist, participated in a "duel" of Guitar Hero with the world champion 2009, Fábio Jardim, just 14 years. The event was held at SESC Santana in São Paulo, with many fans of the musician.

During the compettion Kiko and Fábio had to play rhythm sections and solos of songs like "Beat It (Mickael Jackson), Crazy train (Ozzy) and Hot For Teacher (Van Halen). Loureiro played well on all tracks, but when he changed the "fictive" guitar of the game for his real guitar, he played much better Van Halen hit "Hot For Teacher".

After the game, Kiko Loureiro left the virtual world and made a pocket show, playing songs from his solo career as "No Gravity", "Escaping" among others, and ended by the speed "Dilemma". He showed all his virtuosity and proved why he is considered as one of the best guitarists in the world. He ended the event by signing autographs and taking photos with fans."

Angra : interview Play TV

Angra's interview from Play TV website, English translation from Angra Official website.

ANGRA has recently been interviewed by Adriana Farias, from PlayTV, about the Japanese universe and their long lasting connection.

"PlayTV – You are known for participating in the Anime events in Brazil. How many Anime Friends editions did you play with ANGRA or ALMAH (Edu Falaschi side project)?

Edu Falaschi – It is the first time that ANGRA participates in this kind of show but all of us have already performed individually specially at Anime Friends.

PlayTV – But do you have a connection with the Anime universe?

Edu Falaschi – We intend to continue close to these people who enjoy cosplay, cartoon and Japanese series because in fact everybody enjoyed those things in the childhood. We have already watched many Japanese series and we like this kind of audience. They rock in the shows and really love ANGRA.

PlayTV – Has this relation begun when Edu recorded the songs for “Saint Seiya”?

Edu Falaschi – It started with an invitation from Álamo (dubbing studio). They needed to select a Heavy Metal vocalist who was known in the media to record the soundtrack, so I was invited to sing “Pegasus Fantasy” and “Blue Forever”, from Saint Seiya. After that I was invited again to record “Never”, another song for the movies. As from there I have been taking ANGRA to perform in all Anime events.

PlayTV – So a big part of the ANGRA fans can be also considered as Anime ones?

Edu Falaschi – Our fans enjoy not only Anime but also RPG and videogames. People who like this sound end up enjoying ANGRA since the most of game and cartoon soundtracks are made by Heavy Metal songs, so they identify themselves with the band.

PlayTV – ANGRA has a deep connection with the Japanese culture. The record will be released firstly there because of this?

Kiko Loureiro – “Aqua” will be released firstly in Japan on August, but in Brazil it will be launched in the same week and in Europe on September. We have an excellent connection with Japan since the beginning of our career when our first album “Angels Cry” was released there in 1993. We received a golden record award at that time and since then we have always been touring and performing in big festivals in Japan.

Rafael Bittencourt – The Japanese fans are passionate, polite and interested in our career. The Japanese people are really dedicated to the music in general. We have a strong connection with them.

PlayTV – Did you prepare a different set list to the Anime Friends concert? Any surprise for the show?

Rafael Bittencourt – We will play “Pegasus Fantasy” for the first time. Edu has been recorded that and it became a classic to our fans. They always ask us to play the Saint Seiya soundtrack so we will perform “Pegasus Fantasy” changing the instruments, but Edu will sing the song. After all, it became known with him on the vocals."
